Have you ever had God tell you something to be prepared for? Have you ever wondered WHEN it was going to happen? Many of us have walked this at one point in our lives. The problem comes when we are called to walk in faith without seeing the promise right away.
Moses was called to leave his country and to take the children of Israel to the Promise Land. Check out what God said to him.
7 The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. 8 So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey —the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. 9 And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them. 10 So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.” Exodus 3:7-10
The problem with this was that Moses was never going to see the Promise Land. He did not know that though. He walked by faith and led his life and the children of Israel as God directed him.
We must live our lives listening to the voice of God, and live as though we will see the promises He has set before us. We never really know what part we will play in the outcome of the promises. Though Moses never saw the Promise Land, he was able to mentor Joshua, who would take them there.
There is a possibility that we will not see the promises come to pass in our lifetime, but we must still live by faith and leave a legacy of walking in that faith. You may be mentoring a Joshua to take hold of the promise God has given you and bring it to pass.
God’s plans are bigger than ours, and we often do not know that entire plan and what part we ultimately play, but we do have a part. Keep pressing in and He will keep His promises.
